For the adventurous at heart, we offer a hide that can be used for both hunting and outdoor overnight adventure. Perched with a sweeping view over bushveld and open plains, it provides a unique vantage point for those seeking something beyond the ordinary. Whether you’re a bow hunter or prefer traditional methods, the hide presents a fresh and exciting challenge—perfect for thrill-seekers to spend a night with bear minimum facilities (only sleeping bag and an open fire) and seasoned hunters alike.

Driekoppen boast seven well-stocked Bass Dams which provides for hours of entertainment for the young and old. Guests are welcome to try their luck at fishing in any of our dams which contains Black Bass and Banded Tilapia. Strictly catch and release with exclusive use of clean hooks only. Driekoppen’s 7 dams are nourished by natural fountain water all year around – which ensure a healthy environment and eco system. The mountain is our water filter and that makes our drinking water some of the best in South Africa. We have been approached by spring water bottling companies on numerous occasions due to the top quality of our spring water. Driekoppen will not disappoint the most experienced angler. A big congratulation to Handrè Kritzinger – who caught an area record of 4.93kg on Driekoppen Game Farm. On a good day you could be privileged to share the dams with wild horses and Lechwes’ playing in and around the water.

Hiking through the natural surrounds of Driekoppen is a totally unique experience, as this is the ideal and encouraged way to interact with all facets of nature available on the farm. The routes can take the form from a brisk two hour trek to a full day’s hiking whilst savouring the sight of the game in a beautiful habitat, the ambient sound of the abundant bird life and the feel of the crisp cleanness of the air. The summit of Spitzkop is measured at almost 2300 meters above sea level and the summit of Witkop is measured at 2386 meters above sea level. Different routes offer various degrees of

difficulty for both the mountaineer and rock climber. Driekoppen offers the ideal spot for the daring and adventurous, and for an interesting climb. One of the first commercial airplane crashes occurred on the 15th May 1948 against Spitzkop , a prominent mountain on Driekoppen Game Farm. A tragic piece of history known as: “The forgotten flight”

The area, within which Driekoppen is situated, is a bird watcher’s paradise. We reintroduced wetland areas, ideal for birdlife to flourish in. Driekoppen Game Farm boasts a large variety of birdlife such as the Blue Crane, Mahem, Secretary bird, Ostrich, Black Eagle, Booted Eagle, Wild Turkey, Herons and natural waterfowl to name just a few. With that magical moment when you sit in silence, gazing upward as a bald eagle soars effortlessly above—just 20 to 30 meters overhead—majestic and untouchable.

Due to the partly isolated location of Driekoppen, we have little to no light pollution from the neighbouring towns of Vrede and Memel, which by radius, is more than thirty kilometres away. The Estate is situated on an altitude of between 1600 and 2300 meters above sea level. This, together with unpolluted air, offers the star gazer the perfect setting for an extremely fast growing scientific pastime.

After a day of thrilling successful hunt, there’s nothing more satisfying than gathering around a roaring fire under the open African sky. Our evenings are designed to help you slow down, connect with nature, and enjoy good company in a relaxed, rustic atmosphere. As the sun sets and the sounds of wildlife settle into a tranquil night rhythm, guests are welcomed to enjoy a traditional Free State braai.

Our communal fireplace at the lodge area offers comfortable seating where guests can kick back with a drink, share stories of the day’s adventures, or simply soak in the serenity of the starlit sky. The fire crackles, the air smells of woodsmoke and grilled meat, and the mood is easy-going – a perfect blend of relaxation and bushveld charm. It’s a chance to unwind, build camaraderie, and make lasting memories around the fire.
